About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned mobile senior Android developer to join our team at The Nielsen Company. This position requires 5+ years of experience developing mobile Android apps, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement solutions for mobile Android devices
  • Develop and publish mobile apps on Google Play store and Amazon Kindle store
  • Provide technical leadership and direction to other mobile developers
  • Collaborate with product managers and business owners to shape the strategy for testing and deployment of our meter across different markets

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in designing and implementing solutions for mobile Android devices
  • Proven record of mobile app development
  • Excellent Java/Kotlin knowledge
  • Very good knowledge of Android networking APIs, specifically HTTP/S
  • Very good knowledge on memory management for embedded applications
  • Good knowledge of Bluetooth and VPN protocols for Android
  • Experience with the Xamarin framework is a plus
  • Strong record on mobile performance optimization
  • Understanding of IPv4/IPv6, UDP/TCP packets and sockets
  • Experience with Native and Web communications using JavaScript
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins/GITLab)
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment and ceremonies
  • Good understanding of JSON formats and parsers
  • Experience integrating 3rd party SDKs (Firebase)
  • Ability to work across multiple platforms and domains
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter
  • Excellent communication, documentation and presentation skills
  • Commitment to excellence, accepting responsibility and accountability for results
  • Flexible to attempt alternate solutions to resolve issues and able to adjust to a dynamic, changing technical and business environment

Education

  • BSc in Engineering and / or Computer Science or related field
