Geographic Information System Developer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Geographic Information System (GIS) developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in implementing GIS solutions, publishing and administering map services, and maintaining geodatabases.

Job Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience as a software developer implementing GIS solutions.
  • Experience with GeoServer and ArcGIS Server for publishing and administering map services.
  • Ability to tune and troubleshoot map services for optimal performance.
  • Experience with maintaining and administering geodatabases using PostGIS and ArcGIS GeoDBs.
  • Familiarity with open-source GIS software like GeoServer, PostGIS, GDAL, GeoPandas, and GeoSpark.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, and TypeScript.
  • Experience working with ESRI APIs and tools, including ArcObjects, Geoprocessing, and ArcGIS Desktop/Server/Portal.
  • Knowledge of web frameworks such as Angular, React, and Openlayers.
  • Experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience in a hybrid on-premise and cloud environment (AWS, Azure, Google).
  • Experience in the upstream oil/gas industry.
  • Experience with technologies such as Google Big Query, Airflow, Elastic Search, Spark, Kafka, Git, Azure DevOps, Terraform, VS Code, and Kubernetes.
  • Ability to analytically address complex problems, process critical data, establish facts, and draw quality conclusions.
  • Ability to quickly learn and debug large complex systems in ambiguous situations.
  • Outgoing personality and good team player skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in communicating with people at various levels of the organization.
