Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Hardware Engineer to join our product development team at Johnson Controls. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative hardware solutions for our Fire Detection Systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop hardware components for our Fire Detection Systems
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure efficient production processes
  • Investigate and troubleshoot manufacturing issues
  • Assist with component second sourcing activities
  • Fabricate test and programming jigs for product development use
  • Perform detailed analysis on competitors' products
  • Assist with system level testing
  • Execute testing on prototypes and collect data for analysis
  • Perform DFMEA, VA/VE, DFM, DFT, Failure and Root cause analysis
  • Conduct Product compliance testing as per IEC, CE, FCC, EN54 and UL standards

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of applicable HW design and development practice; design techniques and systems and language platforms
  • Extensive Product design knowledge on 32-bit microcontrollers (ARM 32-bit, STM, PIC32 etc)
  • Experience with lab equipment including oscilloscope, DVM, signal generators, spectrum analyzer, and similar test apparatus
  • Working knowledge of industry standard tools such as Altium schematic capture
  • Experience working on products designed for high volume manufacturing and understanding of manufacturing process
  • Understanding of product TMCs to facilitate interaction with Manufacturing
  • Experience designing and troubleshooting high density boards that incorporate microcontrollers, mixed analog and digital circuits and peripherals
  • Power supply design types: DC to DC convertors, Switch mode Regulators and LDOs
  • Analog / Digital design, mixed signal design and high speed design
  • Sensor, transducers, Relays and their interfaces with microcontroller
  • Interfaces and Protocols: I2C, CAN, SPI, RS485, Ethernet
  • HMI technologies such as LCD, TFT, OLED and resistive/capacitive touch interfaces
  • Circuit simulation (Spice analysis), Signal integrity, Stress and power analysis
  • Hands on experience in closely working with Manufacturing

Preferred Qualifications

  • BE (ETC/EE) Degree or similar in a technical field
  • 5-8 yrs experience years on HW product design
