Senior Oracle DBA Consultant Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Oracle DBA to lead the administration, optimization, and security of our Oracle database landscape. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in Oracle database technologies, high availability architecture, and hands-on experience with SAP-Oracle integration or collaboration with SAP Basis teams.

The successful candidate will administer, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot multiple Oracle databases (11g, 12c, 19c, 21c) in production, development, and QA environments. They will perform installations, upgrades, patching, and migrations, including platform and cross-version migrations.

Key responsibilities include optimizing database performance using AWR, ASH, OEM, and advanced tuning techniques. The candidate must manage high availability and disaster recovery configurations using Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and GoldenGate. They will also implement and test robust backup/recovery strategies using RMAN and/or third-party tools.

Automating administrative tasks and reporting using shell scripting, PL/SQL, or Python is also a requirement. Collaboration with SAP Basis team to support SAP systems using Oracle, including performance tuning and backup coordination, is essential. Ensuring database compliance with security, audit, and regulatory standards is also necessary.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA in large-scale, enterprise-grade environments.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in:
  • Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and RMAN
  • Performance tuning (SQL, instance-level)
  • Backup/recovery and storage management
  • Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for monitoring and diagnostics
  • Solid understanding of Linux/Unix environments, scripting, and automation.

Desirable qualifications include SAP environment experience, familiarity with SAP systems using Oracle, working knowledge of how Oracle integrates with SAP NetWeaver architecture, and ability to support SAP Basis teams in database-related operations.
