Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) Compliance Manager

We are seeking a seasoned Compliance Manager to lead our Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) compliance project. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and delivering our compliance program in alignment with Bermuda's data protection regulations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in regulatory compliance, preferably in the financial services sector, and excellent stakeholder management skills. They will be able to translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into actionable business processes.

This is a remote opportunity that requires a high level of autonomy and self-motivation. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure timely delivery within budget and scope.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of our PIPA compliance framework across all business units.
  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of current data privacy policies, systems, and processes to identify gaps against PIPA requirements.
  • Work with Legal, Risk, IT Security, Compliance, and Business Units to define and implement appropriate controls for data collection, storage, access, and sharing.
  • Establish governance structures, reporting mechanisms, and escalation paths to ensure compliance tracking and accountability.
  • Manage vendor relationships and third-party assessments related to data processing and privacy.
  • Design and facilitate training and awareness programs for staff on data protection principles and responsibilities under PIPA.
  • Prepare project plans, status reports, risk registers, and ensure timely delivery within budget and scope.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience managing regulatory or compliance-driven projects.
  • In-depth understanding of data privacy regulations.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to translate legal and regulatory requirements into actionable business processes.
