Backend Developer Position Overview

This role focuses on the design and implementation of scalable, cloud-based applications using modern Java functional programming concepts.

The successful candidate will have hands-on experience in Functional Programming, Microservices architecture, and Cloud deployment patterns. A deep understanding of Java capabilities, event-driven architectures (Kafka), and cloud-native development (GCP) is essential for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design microservices utilizing Java Streams, Functional Interfaces, Lambda expressions, Supplier, Consumer, Function, and reduce operations.
  • Develop and deploy applications in GCP or public clouds using services like Cloud Run, GKE, and GCS.
  • Collaborate on event-driven systems using Kafka and apply architectural patterns like Choreography, Strangler, and Sidecar.
  • Write clean, testable, and scalable code with emphasis on readability and maintainability.
  • Contribute to the adoption of modern Java features, including Pattern Matching, Records, and Record Patterns.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of Core Java & Functional Programming.
  • Experience with newer Java features (preferably Java 17+).
  • Proficiency in immutable data structures, pure functions, and clean code principles.

Technical Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of microservices design patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with Kafka or other message brokers in an Event-Driven Architecture (EDA).
  • Familiarity with Cloud Run, GKE, GCS, or equivalents in other clouds.
