Ophthalmic Assistant Job Opportunity

As a skilled professional, you will be responsible for delivering primary eye care services in mobile medical units operating in underserved areas of Assam. This role involves conducting preliminary eye examinations such as visual acuity, refraction, tonometry, and color vision tests.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Conduct detailed eye examinations to assess patients' vision and detect any eye-related conditions.
  • Collaborate with Medical Officers to diagnose and treat various eye problems.
  • Provide support during minor ophthalmic procedures and ensure excellent patient care before, during, and after treatment.
  • Counsel patients on prescribed treatments, spectacles use, medications, and follow-up care.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Ophthalmic Assistance or Ophthalmic Technology from a recognized institution.
  • Freshers can apply; prior experience in ophthalmic services is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in basic ophthalmic tests and equipment handling.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient counseling.
  • Ability to work in rural, remote locations and adapt to challenging environments.
  • Strong team player with flexibility and willingness to travel.
Work Environment:

This role requires working in Mobile Medical Units, providing services directly to rural, tea garden, and hard-to-reach communities. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with frequent field visits and flexible work arrangements.
