Key roles and responsibilities for this position include creating math problems, analyzing model responses, and identifying gaps in logic or understanding. As a researcher in mathematics, you will work on testing the reasoning capabilities of large language models (LLMs).

This involves working through challenging math to create abstract thinking and structured problem-solving tasks. You'll review how the AI solves these tasks and share insights on how well it understands complex reasoning and logical steps.

The following tasks are examples of what day-to-day work may look like:

  • Find the number of permutations of 10 elements that consist only of exactly 3 disjoint cycles.
  • How many distinct convex polyhedra can be formed using exactly 10 vertices such that all faces are triangles and the polyhedron has genus zero?
Eligibility
  • Currently enrolled in or have completed a Ph.D. or Postdoctoral in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Able to provide clear, constructive feedback with examples.
  • Strong written communication, especially in remote settings.
  • Comfortable working independently.
  • Stable computer and internet access.

Eligible candidates must have completed or be currently pursuing a Ph.D.; applications without meeting this criterion will not be considered.

Time Commitment & Contract Details
  • Commitments Required: at least 4 hours per day and minimum 20 hours per week with 4 hours of overlap with PST. Options include 20, 30, or 40 hours per week.
  • Engagement type: Contractor assignment/freelancer.
  • Duration of contract: 1 month.
Selection Process

A task-based assessment will be conducted for shortlisted candidates followed by a contract offer with defined timelines and workload.
