Medical Laboratory Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team.

This is a full-time, permanent position that requires the successful candidate to be highly organized, possess excellent communication skills, and have a strong ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  1. Conduct electrocardiogram (EKG), phonocardiogram, echocardiogram, and stress tests using electronic equipment.
  2. Ensure cardiology patients are comfortable by answering their questions about the tests.
  3. Record the results of cardiological tests and consult with physicians on duty to schedule follow-up tests.
  4. Assist physicians during non-invasive cardiological procedures by monitoring patients' heart rates and alerting them to any readings outside normal ranges.
  5. Maintain cardiological equipment and supplies through daily cleanings and adjustments.
  6. Record supply inventory levels and restock the supply storeroom accordingly.
  7. Troubleshoot problems with cardiological equipment and report any malfunctions to superiors.
  8. Stay up-to-date with cardiological developments by attending conferences and participating in research projects.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a medical laboratory technician.
  • Certification from a recognized professional organization (e.g., ASCP).
