Data Engineer – SQL Expert

Key Responsibilities:

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer / Data Remediation Specialist to join our data-driven team. This role is ideal for professionals with strong SQL development, data quality management, and data migration expertise.

The ideal candidate will have experience troubleshooting and fixing critical data issues across large, complex databases in a production environment.

  • Identify, troubleshoot, and fix critical data issues across multiple related tables.
  • Write complex SQL queries using joins, CTEs, window functions, temp tables, and nested queries.
  • Perform schema-level fixes and implement rollback logic using tools like Phinx, Flyway, or Liquibase.
  • Collaborate with product and QA teams to validate fixes, create data validation test cases, and ensure reproducibility.
  • Document root cause analysis (RCA) clearly and communicate solutions with stakeholders.
  • Work with Jira for ticket management, tagging, and maintaining proper workflow.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Advanced SQL Development: Strong hands-on experience with complex joins, aggregations, and performance optimization.
  • Data Remediation Expertise: Proven ability to debug and fix production data issues.
  • Database Migration & Rollback Experience: Familiarity with schema migrations and rollback tools (Phinx, Flyway, Liquibase).
  • Data Validation & QA: Ability to design and execute validation steps to ensure accuracy.
  • Clinical Trial Systems Experience: Experience working with global clinical trial systems, CTMS, EDC, or multi-tenant platforms (preferred).
  • Excellent Communication and Documentation Skills: Excellent communication and root cause documentation skills.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience in ETL processes, data pipelines, or big data technologies.
  • Knowledge of cloud databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, GCP BigQuery).
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
