Key Responsibilities

  • System administrators ensure the smooth operation of replication tools, including installation, configuration, upgrades and maintenance.
  • They are responsible for managing and monitoring replication servers, tasks and endpoint connections to guarantee high availability and performance.
  • A vital part of this role is implementing security measures such as access control, role-based permissions and SSL configurations to protect against potential threats.
  • In addition, they set up alerting and automated health checks for critical replication tasks to prevent any issues from arising.
  • Troubleshooting system, task or endpoint problems with minimal downtime is a key aspect of this position.
  • Maintaining audit logs and compliance reporting for replication activities ensures transparency and adherence to regulations.

Development & Task Configuration

  • Data replication specialists design, create and optimize data replication tasks using Golden Gate to ensure seamless data integration.
  • Change Data Capture (CDC) must be enabled and managed for supported source systems to guarantee accurate data capture.
  • Data transformation rules, filters and mappings can be applied as required to tailor the replication process to specific needs.
  • Detailed documentation of replication task logic and configurations helps maintain transparency and facilitates future changes.
  • Collaboration with data engineers, DBAs and business analysts is crucial to fulfill complex data integration requirements.
  • The ability to work effectively with various databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL and cloud systems like AWS Redshift & Data Bricks is essential.
  • A strong understanding of CDC, ETL/ELT and data warehousing concepts underpins successful data replication.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Windows server environments, networking basics, SSL/TLS and firewall configurations supports the implementation of robust security measures.
  • Proficiency in SQL, performance tuning and troubleshooting replication bottlenecks enables data specialists to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Experience integrating Qlik Replicate with tools like Kafka, SAP or cloud data platforms is advantageous but not required.
