Technical Project Manager Job Description

Our organization is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead cloud-based software delivery for a higher education client. The ideal candidate will possess deep hands-on expertise in Ruby on Rails, Python/Django, AWS, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.

The successful candidate will have excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage multiple squads, coach teams on best practices and ownership.
  • Align priorities and facilitate smooth handoffs with engineering and product leaders.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable solutions with architects and senior engineers.
  • Participate in architecture/design reviews and assist with code reviews and troubleshooting.
  • Oversee project lifecycle, monitor milestones and proactively resolve risks.
  • Represent teams in cross-functional discussions; ensure transparency and timely status updates.

The ideal candidate will also possess a proven track record of managing complex projects from discovery through deployment.

Basic Qualifications
  • 8–10+ years in software engineering with full-stack development exposure.
  • 5+ years in engineering/project management in distributed/global teams.
  • Proven track record of managing complex projects from discovery through deployment.
  • Hands-on expertise in Ruby on Rails, Python/Django, AWS, PostgreSQL & MySQL.
  • Deep understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
