Performance Tester

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Performance Tester to join our team. As a Performance Tester, you will play a key role in ensuring the performance and scalability of our web applications and APIs.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop load, stress, endurance, and scalability tests for web applications and APIs using Apache JMeter.
  • Create test plans, scenarios, and scripts based on business requirements, technical specifications, and system performance objectives.
  • Execute performance testing for front-end and back-end systems, simulating real-world user loads.
  • Analyse system performance during testing, including response times, transaction times, throughput, and resource utilization.
  • Provide detailed performance reports, including recommendations for improving system performance.
  • Collaborate with development teams to resolve performance issues and fine-tune applications and infrastructure based on test results.
  • Develop automated regression and load testing scripts to ensure system stability over time.

Requirements:

  • Experience using Apache JMeter for performance testing (creating and executing test scripts, reporting, and analysis).
  • Strong understanding of performance testing concepts, including load testing, stress testing, and scalability testing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in diagnosing performance issues and identifying root causes.
  • Ability to analyse performance test results and generate actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to present test results and work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to document test cases, issues, and recommendations clearly.
  • Experience with cloud-based performance testing using platforms such as AWS and Azure.
  • Experience working in Agile or DevOps environments.

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins and GitLab for integrating tests.
  • Knowledge of other performance testing tools, including Gatling, K6, and Locust.
  • Certifications related to performance testing or JMeter, such as Certified JMeter Tester or ISTQB Performance Tester.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in performance testing, with direct expertise in Apache JMeter or similar tools.
  • Experience in performance testing in a web or cloud-based application environment is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages, including Groovy, JavaScript, or Python, for test automation.
  • Experience with monitoring tools, such as AWS CloudWatch, Grafana, New Relic, or Dynatrace, for analysing system performance.
