Job Overview

The role of Linux Support Engineer is designed to provide expert-level support for Linux systems in a mission-critical banking environment.

This position requires a strong understanding of Linux operating systems, as well as experience with various distributions and their associated tools.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of providing timely and effective support, as well as a commitment to ensuring high availability, performance, and security.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide level 2-3 support for Linux systems in a large-scale banking environment.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, including PCI DSS and local banking regulations.
  • Operate under ITIL processes, including incident, change, problem, and knowledge management.
  • Maintain high availability, performance, and security; participate in DR/BCP drills.
  • Troubleshoot complex incidents and manage approved platform changes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring incidents and implement permanent fixes.
  • Tune configurations and schedule jobs to enhance performance and reliability.
  • Coordinate vendor TAC cases, firmware/patch planning, and validate post-change health.
  • Demonstrate strong documentation, runbook hygiene, and clear communication with stakeholders.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • 6+ years of experience in Linux support, with a focus on L2/L3 support.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems, including RHEL, CentOS, Debian GNU, FreeBSD, and Ubuntu.
  • Experience with ITIL processes and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
