Management Professional: Claims and Risk

This is a management role in the Legal and Claims Department. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for handling legal issues related to claims matters, including recovery actions such as outstanding freight, detention, and demurrage.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years' experience in the shipping industry, preferably with cargo or marine claims experience. They should also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, good analytical skills, and proficiency in MS Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
The Assistant Manager will work closely with the Head Office Legal Department to implement procedures and provide guidance to branch offices within India on how to handle legal matters. They will also provide legal advice to other departments of the company on all shipping-related issues.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and handle court cases, appeals, writ petitions, and actions initiated by authorities such as Customs, DRI, SIIB, CBEC, etc.
- Appoint and liaise with reputable surveyors and outside counsels, in coordination with the Head Office Legal Department, including negotiating and recommending reasonable expenses.
- Making recommendations for improving claims handling processes and procedures.
- Monitoring and reporting on Indian case law and regulations impacting CMA CGM's scope of activity.
- Minimum graduate degree
- Minimum 5+ years' experience in the shipping industry, preferably with cargo or marine claims experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good analytical skills, good reporting skills, trouble shooting, and well-versed with MS Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
