About this role

We are seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer with expertise in Kubernetes, Java, and containerized services. As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, running, and monitoring Okta's production infrastructure, responding to production incidents, and continuously evolving our monitoring tools and platform.

Responsibilities:

  1. Designing and building scalable and reliable services across engineering
  2. Leading initiatives to strengthen our security posture for critical infrastructure
  3. Responding to production incidents and determining how to prevent them
  4. Triaging and troubleshooting complex production issues to ensure reliability and performance
  5. Identifying and automating manual processes
  6. Continuously evolving our monitoring tools and platform
  7. Promoting and applying best practices for building scalable and reliable services across engineering
  8. Developing and maintaining technical documentation, runbooks, and procedures
  9. Supporting a 24x7 online environment as part of an on-call rotation

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience architecting and running complex AWS or other cloud networking infrastructure resources
  • 5+ years of experience with Infrastructure As Code such as Terraform, Chef, or Ansible
  • 4+ years of experience with Kubernetes/K8s
  • Strong Linux understanding and experience
  • Strong security background and knowledge
  • BS In computer science (or equivalent experience)
