About the Position:

We are seeking a highly skilled Electric Vehicle Battery Management System Expert to join our team.

  • BMS Architecture Design: Design the overall architecture and system topology of the BMS, including hardware and software components, to ensure accurate monitoring, control, and protection of the battery pack.
  • Cell Monitoring and Balancing: Design circuitry and algorithms to monitor individual battery cell voltage, temperature, and state of charge (SOC), and implement cell balancing techniques to ensure uniform cell performance and maximize battery pack lifespan.
  • State Estimation and Prediction: Develop algorithms to estimate the battery's state of health (SOH), state of charge (SOC), and remaining energy (SOE) accurately, considering factors such as voltage sag, internal resistance, and battery aging.
  • Thermal Management: Design algorithms and methods to monitor and manage the battery pack temperature, ensuring safe and optimal performance, including temperature sensors, cooling systems, and thermal management strategies.
  • Safety and Fault Detection: Design safety features, such as overvoltage protection, undervoltage protection, overcurrent protection, and short circuit protection, and implement fault detection and diagnostic algorithms to identify and manage potential system failures or abnormalities.
  • Communication and Integration: Design communication interfaces to integrate the BMS with other vehicle systems, such as the vehicle control unit (VCU) and charging infrastructure, using protocols like CAN bus for data exchange.
  • Algorithm Development: Develop advanced algorithms for predictive modeling, state estimation, optimal charging, powertrain integration, and energy management strategies to improve overall performance and efficiency of the electric vehicle.
  • Testing and Validation: Conduct extensive testing and validation of the BMS design, including functional testing, performance testing, and safety testing, to ensure reliable operation and compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software engineers, mechanical engineers, battery pack designers, and vehicle integration specialists, to ensure seamless integration and functionality of the BMS within the electric vehicle.
  • Staying Up-to-Date: Stay informed about the latest developments in battery technologies, BMS components, algorithms, and industry standards to incorporate advancements and best practices into the BMS design.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in designing and developing lithium-ion battery management systems for electric vehicles, preferably in an automotive or related industry.
  • Proficiency in battery management system hardware design, including battery management integrated circuits (ICs), sensors, and communication interfaces.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as C, C++, and Python for developing battery management system software and algorithms and communication protocols, including CAN 2.0AB.
  • Familiarity with battery modeling, state estimation, and control algorithms for optimized battery usage and longevity.
  • Knowledge of electric vehicle system architecture, including high-voltage systems, power distribution, and safety considerations.
  • Experience with battery testing and validation methods, including electrical, thermal, and environmental performance tests.
  • Understanding of relevant industry standards and regulations, such as ISO 26262 and AIS, related to electric vehicle battery systems.
