Embedded Linux Expert Role

Canonical, a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, is seeking an experienced Embedded Linux Consultant to join their team. As an Embedded Linux expert, you will be responsible for designing and implementing custom solutions for our clients using cutting-edge technologies such as Ubuntu Core.

This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in embedded Linux development, containerization, and system debugging, as well as proficiency in programming languages such as Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust.

The Embedded Linux Consultant will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions to our clients. This includes participating in presales activities, elaborating solutions for prospective clients, and conveying market requirements to key stakeholders within the organization.

To succeed in this role, you must be a driven and ambitious technology professional with a passion for Linux and a strong desire to learn and grow with the company. You will also need to be a fluent English speaker and proficient in one of the local languages (for positions in Japan and Korea).

We offer a competitive compensation package, including a performance-driven annual bonus or commission, a distributed work environment with twice-yearly team sprints in person, and a personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year.

  • Responsibilities:
    • Design and implement custom solutions for clients using embedded Linux and Ubuntu Core
    • Participate in presales activities to gather requirements and explain technology
    • Elaborate solutions for prospective clients
    • Convey market requirements to key stakeholders
  • Requirements:
    • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related technical field
    • Extensive Linux experience - Debian or Ubuntu preferred
    • Solid embedded Linux experience (Yocto, Buildroot...) or RTOS
    • Fluency in at least one of Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust
    • Professional written and spoken English in addition to the local language
