Job Description

The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee the management, maintenance, and optimization of our cloud infrastructure on the Microsoft Azure platform. This involves ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our cloud-based systems. To achieve this, you will need a deep understanding of Azure services, automation, monitoring, and troubleshooting skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Infrastructure Management:
    • Provision, configure, and maintain Azure infrastructure components such as virtual machines, virtual networks, storage accounts, and databases.
    • Implement and manage Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates for infrastructure as code (IaC) deployment and configuration management.
    • Monitor and optimize resource utilization to ensure cost-effectiveness and performance.
  • Automation and Orchestration:
    • Develop automation scripts and workflows using tools like PowerShell, Azure CLI, or ARM templates to streamline deployment and management tasks.
    • Implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for deploying and updating Azure resources.
    • Leverage Azure Automation and Azure Logic Apps for process automation and orchestration.
  • Monitoring and Alerting:
    • Set up monitoring and alerting solutions using Azure Monitor, Azure Log Analytics, and Azure Application Insights to ensure the health and performance of Azure services and applications.
    • Configure custom metrics, alerts, and dashboards to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Security and Compliance:
    • Implement security best practices and compliance standards for Azure environments, including network security groups (NSGs), encryption, identity and access management (IAM), and Azure Security Center.
    • Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and audits to identify and remediate security risks.
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery:
    • Design and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies for Azure services and applications, including Azure Backup, Azure Site Recovery, and geo-redundant storage.
    • Test and validate disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity in case of outages or data loss.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
    • Document architecture designs, configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides to maintain a knowledge base for the team.
    • Share knowledge and best practices with team members through training sessions, workshops, and documentation reviews.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Cloud Ops Engineer or similar role, with a focus on Microsoft Azure.
  • In-depth knowledge of Azure services such as Azure Virtual Machines, Azure SQL Database, Azure Storage, Azure Networking, and Azure Active Directory.
  • Strong scripting skills in PowerShell or other automation tools.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) using ARM templates, Terraform, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Solid understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance standards.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
