About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team at Unifocus. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing robust and efficient data models, specializing in Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop data models that support the organization's data-driven initiatives
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective data models
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance conceptual, logical, and physical data models
  • Conduct thorough analysis of data sources, identifying patterns and relationships, and translating these insights into comprehensive data models
  • Implement advanced data modelling techniques to optimize data storage, retrieval, and analysis processes
  • Integrate data models into ETL processes, ensuring data integrity and consistency throughout the entire data pipeline
  • Collaborate with database administrators and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration of data models into the overall data architecture
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to data engineering, data modelling, and ETL processes
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimization of existing data models, proactively identifying and addressing any issues or bottlenecks
  • Document data modelling and ETL processes, methodologies, and decisions, fostering knowledge sharing and providing clear documentation for future reference
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior members of the data engineering team, promoting knowledge transfer, a culture of continuous learning and skills development
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven work experience of 8+ years as a Data Engineer with a significant focus on data modelling and ETL processes.
  • Expertise in SQL and proficiency in data modelling techniques across conceptual, logical, and physical dimensions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into effective data models.
  • In-depth knowledge of database systems (both relational and NoSQL) and experience with data warehousing concepts.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, with the ability to write efficient and maintainable code.
  • Hands-on experience with data integration tools and a strong familiarity with cloud-based data warehousing and processing is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with Dundas BI would be good to have.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating effective collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proactive and self-driven, with a strong desire to stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices in data modelling and ETL processes.
