Senior Software Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team at Global Payments. This role involves designing and developing software solutions for our payments systems, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design and develop software solutions using IBM Mainframe technologies such as DB2 IMS, COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and TSO/ISPF.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  3. Work closely with mainframe operations to ensure smooth system performance and troubleshoot issues efficiently.
  4. Develop and implement moderately complex tasks, applying technical knowledge and skills as required.
  5. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in software development, identifying opportunities for improvement and process optimization.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • MCA, B.Tech, or B.E (four year college degree) or equivalent.
  • 5-8 years of experience in IBM Mainframe, DB2 IMS, COBOL, JCL, VSAM, TSO/ISPF.
  • Working experience in IBM File Manager, Debug Tool, CA7/11, Endevor.
  • Understanding of complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • L2/L3 Production Support experience - Abend fix, Batch Cycle Monitoring, Coordination with mainframe Ops, On-call Support.
  • Ability to think logically/analytically, understand business need.
  • Strong research skills, Strong problem resolution skills.
  • Adheres to department practices, standards, policies, procedures, and methodologies.
