Job Description

The Staff AI Engineer will play a critical role in designing and deploying solutions that drive real-world impact. This involves tailoring communications, improving engagement, and reducing missed appointments.

The team at Foodsmart transforms how millions of people access personalized nutrition and care. As a key member of this team, you will work on developing scalable, high-performance backend applications using TypeScript, Node.js, and relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL.

You will build and maintain APIs and microservices that enable real-time and batch inference of AI/ML models. This requires fine-tuning and adapting pre-trained models for specific business use cases. Additionally, you will integrate external AI services where appropriate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end AI-powered features.

Contribute to MLOps workflows, including deployment, versioning, and monitoring of models in production. Follow engineering best practices for clean code, testing, observability, and reliability.

Stay up to date with advancements in AI tooling and infrastructure to continuously improve system performance and model impact.

Required Skills and Qualifications

A strong backend engineer with experience building robust systems and a passion for applied AI. Proficient in Node.js, TypeScript, and SQL, with experience delivering production-grade services.

Familiar with deploying and integrating ML models into applications, including fine-tuning pre-trained models. Comfortable working across backend systems and AI pipelines.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Detail-oriented and proactive about writing secure, maintainable, and scalable code.
