Looking for a new challenge? We're seeking a Sports News Editor to join our team of passionate and dedicated editorial professionals. As part of our dynamic and fast-paced environment, you'll play a crucial role in enhancing the quality and accuracy of our sports content.

As a key member of our editorial team, your primary responsibilities will include editing and publishing articles daily, proofreading for grammatical and factual errors, and researching to ensure fact accuracy and identify incorrect claims. You'll also be responsible for mentoring writers to refine their quality, output, and performance, as well as ensuring smooth daily operations of sport division writers. Additionally, you'll undertake key duties as instructed by the Editorial Team Lead.

To be successful in this role, you'll need to possess excellent leadership qualities, a keen eye for enticing titles and subheadings, and basic SEO knowledge. A good grasp of American English and culture is also essential. Prior experience leading a team of writers is an additional plus.

Responsibilities
  • Edit and publish 20-25 articles daily
  • Proofread articles for grammatical and factual errors
  • Research to ensure fact accuracy and identify incorrect claims
  • Publish priority news-based articles in a timely fashion
  • Mentor writers to refine their quality, output, and performance
  • Ensure smooth daily operations of sport division writers
  • Undertake key duties as instructed by the Editorial Team Lead

Requirements

  • A minimum of 6-12 months of experience in proofreading and/or content editing
  • Prior experience leading a team of writers is an additional plus
