The role of SOC Admin is an internal corporate position responsible for the administration, management, configuration, testing, and integration of SIEM, SOAR, EDR, and other security platform solutions to improve the security value of the organization.
Key responsibilities include aligning with internal and external needs, threat trends, and operational performance to identify opportunities for improvement and enhancement of the security operations center technologies and integrations.
Job duties also involve performing system administration for SIEM, SOAR, EDR, and ancillary devices, developing, implementing, and executing standard procedures for content management, change management, version patch management, and lifecycle management of the SIEM, SOAR platforms.
A SOC Admin must develop information security and incident response workflows, procedures, and best practices, and publish them as playbooks in the SOAR platform. The role requires onboarding new log sources with log analysis and parsing to enable SIEM correlation, creating and developing correlation and detection rules within the SIEM solution (IBM QRadar).
Maintenance tasks include managing, developing, and tuning scripts that integrate SIEM. Collaboration with key stakeholders within technology, application, and cyber-Security is required to develop specific use cases to address specific business needs.
SOC Admins work closely with platform and application owners to define and establish logging standards to address various governance and security requirements.
This role provides technical documentation around the content deployed to the SIEM and supports forensics services, including evidence seizure, computer forensic analysis, and data recovery, in support of computer crime investigation.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Detailed knowledge of SIEM, SOAR, EDR, and ancillary device administration

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
