The Role

Willis Towers Watson (WTW) operates a number of outsourced actuarial function projects for Life Insurance companies in the UK. The projects are delivered by a collaborative outsourcing team across WTW India and WTW UK offices.

As a qualified actuary in the Life Actuarial Outsourcing team, you will work on financial reporting for one such project. Your tasks will cover all areas of actuarial work, including Solvency II valuations, IFRS, ORSA, with-profits, and strategic projects. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in an IFRS17 implementation project.

You will be part of a strong, diverse, and dedicated team of associates who work in the outsourcing team. Regular engagement with the client is expected, including communicating results and advising on actuarial matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical review of all major actuarial work, including quarterly SII reporting, experience investigations, ORSA, IFRS, and with-profits projects.
  • Involvement in the upcoming IFRS17 implementation.
  • Strong technical and actuarial skills to interpret, challenge, and review actuarial results.
  • Reviewing Solvency II reporting and other metrics, including IFRS and EV.
  • Reporting to senior actuaries, such as the Head of Reporting.
  • Preparing drafts of reports and explaining results appropriately.
  • Advising junior team members on methodology and approach.
  • Completing work in accordance with professional excellence and external standards, and enforcing these within the team.

Management

  • Delivering work in accordance with financial reporting timetables.
  • Liaising with the client to ensure timetables and deadlines are mutually achievable.
  • Working with the Head of Reporting to ensure the team is suitably resourced and managing upcoming priorities and workflow.

People

  • Building relationships internally and collaborating effectively on cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrating ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients and colleagues at all levels.
  • Taking an active interest in the development of more junior staff, sharing details of routine tasks.

Client/Account Management

  • Nurturing and managing the relationship with the client.
  • Delivering on projects to meet or exceed client expectations.

Continuous Improvement

  • Proactively seeking and driving improvements to all aspects of the outsourcing project.
  • Working with the continuous improvement manager to ensure these are delivered and the job and team are operating efficiently and effectively.
