Job Title: Director of Elite Athlete Development

The Director of Elite Athlete Development will be responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive pathway from talent identification to elite performance.

  • This includes designing and executing programs that identify, develop, and recruit talented athletes.
  • Collaborating with marketing teams to create effective campaigns and publicity around the organization's opportunities.
  • Engaging in strategic planning and review processes with senior leadership team members.
  • Coordinate annual talent identification programs, including multi-stage testing and profiling.
  • Develop sport-specific benchmarking and profiling systems in collaboration with sports scientists.
  • Drive initiatives such as talent transfer and special scouting projects to fill critical talent gaps.
  • Implement an athlete recruitment management system to maintain a comprehensive talent database.
  • Oversee annual planning, marketing, and scheduling of creative talent identification campaigns across all sports.
  • Ensure every athlete is supported throughout any talent recruitment campaign.
  • Publish guidance on how to participate in talent identification and recruitment campaigns using modern video mediums.
  • Create a clear graphical prospectus outlining the offer to each athlete.
  • Design a payment and reward system for athletes that attracts top talent while prioritizing Olympic Medal winning journeys over national titles.
  • Recruit and develop a talent scouting and talent recruitment team, working alongside the HR department.
  • Lead the pathways team to build relationships with key stakeholders, club coaches, parents, national federations, and required stakeholders.
  • Track athlete talent using real-time performance analytics, benchmarking tools, and regular reviews.
  • Lead pathway reviews, elevating club structure with CPD opportunities for club coaches.
  • Inform talent recruitment strategy, selection, and long-term investments using national and international performance trends.
  • Collaborate with educational pathways team for athlete welfare and dual career programs.
  • Facilitate induction, transition, and exit processes for athletes entering and exiting the pathway.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional, national, and international regulatory frameworks.
  • Prepare program reports, athlete summaries, and justifications as required.

Requirements:

  • Proven leadership in talent development and pathway management in Olympic or elite sports settings.
  • 5–8 years' experience in performance sport (preferably multi-sport or Olympic disciplines).
  • Deep understanding of athlete development science, systems, and junior to elite transitions.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and program management skills.
  • Experience managing budgets, staff, and complex logistics.

Desirable qualifications include coaching qualifications in a relevant sport, knowledge of India's high-performance sports ecosystem, previous involvement with national/international federations, and experience with athlete management systems.

Additional Requirements:

  • Flexibility to travel and work weekends/irregular hours.
  • Ability to travel domestically.
  • Subject to police verification and background checks as per compliance policy.
