Embark on a transformative journey as a Software Engineer on our AI Platform Team. We're pushing the boundaries of innovation, accelerating AI adoption, and enhancing team efficiency across Coinbase. Your expertise will shape how people and businesses engage with and benefit from AI in the future.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead hands-on architecture & develop platform for all LLM use-cases in Coinbase, collaborating with a team of ICs
  • Provide technical structure to teams and work closely with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps
  • Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with your technical expertise
  • Form a deep understanding of our Machine Learning Engineers' needs and current capabilities and gaps
  • Mentor junior engineers on building high-quality software and advancing their skills
  • Continually raise engineering standards to maintain high-availability and low-latency for our ML inference infrastructure running predictive ML models and LLMs
  • Optimize low latency streaming pipelines to give ML models fresh and high-quality data
  • Evangelize state-of-the-art practices for building high-performance distributed training jobs processing large volumes of data
  • Build tooling to observe data quality going into models and detect degradations impacting model performance
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering
  • At least 2+ years of engineering management experience
  • Hands-on experience designing, building, and scaling production applications and leading teams of highly competent engineers
  • Experience upleveling junior engineers via processes and setting high standards for them to follow
  • Familiarity with high-quality code and software engineering processes, fostering an environment that creates them
  • Deep customer empathy for primary stakeholder groups
  • Passion for building an open financial system uniting the world
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a bias toward open, transparent cultural practices
