We're seeking a highly skilled Chemistry Research Specialist to join our team. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to work on challenging chemistry problems and test the reasoning capabilities of large language models.

Your day-to-day will involve creating chemistry problems, reviewing how the AI solves them, and sharing insights on how well it understands complex reasoning and logical steps. You'll take on tasks such as:

  • Calculating the equilibrium concentration of a specific gas in an output stream at 1000 K for a coal gasifier operating at high temperature using a feed of steam and air to produce synthesis gas from pure carbon.
  • Developing a reactor model to estimate the maximum temperature reached in a plug flow reactor with stoichiometric feed and known operating and coolant conditions.
Eligibility

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A PhD or Postdoctoral degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • The ability to provide clear, constructive feedback with examples.
  • Strong written communication skills, especially in remote settings.
  • Comfortable working independently.
  • Stable computer and internet access.
Benefits

This is a contract-based position with flexible time commitments. You'll have the opportunity to work remotely and choose from three options: 20 hours per week, 30 hours per week, or 40 hours per week. Your engagement type will be as a contractor/freelancer with no medical/paid leave. The duration of the contract is one month.

You'll undergo a task-based assessment for shortlisted candidates, followed by a contract offer with defined timelines and workload.
