Job Title: Director, Architecture

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Senior Solution Architect to join our team at Experian. As a key member of our architecture team, you will be responsible for designing and governing innovative solutions that meet or exceed our clients' needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the architectural design and governance of complex business solutions, ensuring alignment with our overarching business and technology strategies.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements.
  • Respectfully challenge our Product and Engineering teams to ensure clarity and quality is paramount at all times.
  • Work closely with the Engineering teams to validate, optimize, and adapt the architectural solutions based on delivery feedback.
  • Attend relevant agile ceremonies to provide architectural input and understand delivery changes as they happen.
  • Develop and maintain architectural documentation, including solution blueprints, patterns, conceptual, logical, and physical solution diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in the solution design and delivery process.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Mentor and develop the architecture team itself, and support our partners in the delivery of excellent products through optimal processes.
  • Creation of blueprints and patterns for reuse across the enterprise.
  • Identification of opportunities for improvements to Experian's global tech direction and advocate effectively for change.
  • Strong cost management skills, producing cost projections and cost optimization plans for both strategic and legacy products.

What Would Success in the Role Look Like?

  • Recognition as the technology SME for one or more programmes of work within the Consumer Verifications domain.
  • Strategic (business and technical) alignment of delivered solutions.
  • Successful delivery of one or more strategic programmes or initiatives, supporting the on-time and to-budget aspects.
  • Creation of architecture vision and multi-year transformation plan aligned with business unit goals and priorities (for one BU or Domain).

Qualifications:

A highly motivated and results-oriented individual with a strong technical background and significant experience in solution architecture.

  • A hands-on technologist.
  • A continuous learning and growth attitude.
  • An innovation mindset; looking for opportunities to improve, optimize, and automate.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect, with at least 5 years' experience in designing and implementing complex enterprise solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of at least one cloud platform (AWS preferred).
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing scalable, reliable, and cost-effective solutions using cloud technologies (AWS preferred).
  • Strong understanding of DB technologies; relational, no-sql, graph, vector.
  • Solid understanding of security, compliance, and data controls and compliance.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to effectively collaborate with multiple technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Architectural Frameworks, e.g. TOGAF, Zachman.
  • Experience in Agile delivery methodology – ideally SAFe (Scaled Agile).
  • Experience in financial services is advantageous.
  • Experience of cloud-first, serverless solution design is advantageous (Lambda, Step Function, Glue, Event Bridge, S3, RDS, EKS, etc. – or other cloud vendor equivalents).
