Financial Data Engineer

Talent500 is seeking a skilled Financial Data Engineer to join its client's team in building and scaling modern financial data platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing data pipelines that power critical financial systems, reporting, and compliance needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize data warehouse solutions in Snowflake, ensuring performance and scalability for finance and accounting workloads.
  • Build and maintain dbt models and transformations that enable clean, governed, and auditable financial data flows.
  • Implement data pipelines that source from ERP and finance systems to support revenue recognition, reconciliations, and accounting processes.
  • Design, build, and maintain reliable data pipelines and workflows using Snowflake, dbt, and other tools.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Accounting partners to translate business requirements into technical designs and data solutions.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and traceability of financial data to support audit and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate in an agile engineering environment, participating in code reviews, sprint planning, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and share best practices for Snowflake and dbt usage within the team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of professional experience in data engineering or data platform roles, preferably with financial systems.
  • 3+ years hands-on experience with Snowflake for data warehousing, performance tuning, and secure data sharing.
  • 2+ years of dbt experience (building models, transformations, testing, and documentation).
  • Strong SQL development skills with focus on efficiency and maintainability.
  • Experience working with financial or accounting data, translating business requirements into data pipelines.
  • Understanding of accounting concepts (e.g., revenue recognition, double-entry principles) and ability to partner with Finance/Accounting teams.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD workflows (Git, GitHub, GitLab, or similar).
