The role of the Director – Sports is multifaceted and involves leading the strategic planning, development, and implementation of sports programs, physical education, and wellness initiatives across the institution.

  • Develop a comprehensive vision and strategy for the sports department to drive growth and success.
  • Oversee sports programs, inter-collegiate tournaments, training camps, and physical education curriculum to ensure alignment with institutional goals.
  • Manage sports facilities, gymnasiums, and grounds to maintain optimal utilization and safety standards.
  • Identify, recruit, and mentor talented athletes to represent the institution at various levels through rigorous selection processes.
  • Collaborate with coaches, trainers, and faculty to foster a culture of fitness, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
  • Organize workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns on health, fitness, and sports to promote holistic well-being.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of sports coaches and staff to ensure excellence in their roles.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote ethical sports practices to uphold the institution's reputation.
  • Formulate and implement sports and physical education policies as per UGC/AIU norms to drive consistency and quality.
  • Identify and groom talented sportspersons to represent the institution at zonal, national, and international levels through targeted development programs.
  • Liaise with sports councils, federations, and UGC-recognized bodies for collaboration and participation to enhance opportunities.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field to provide expertise in sports administration and management.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in sports administration, coaching, or sports management to demonstrate proven track records and leadership skills.
  • A strong record of managing large-scale sports events and teams to showcase organizational and communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of modern training methods, sports technology, and performance analytics to drive data-driven decision-making.
  • A history of representing the university/college at inter-university / inter-collegiate competitions or the State and/or National championships to highlight competitive spirit and achievements.
  • Familiarity with UGC, AIU, and national sports policies to ensure regulatory compliance and best practices.
