Senior Software Developer

Purpose

This role is focused on delivering expert programming support across various projects, clients, and therapeutic areas.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for manipulating large databases and generating reports to enable analysts to explore real-world healthcare data assets. Excellent SAS and SQL programming skills are essential, along with the ability to implement complex logic. The ideal candidate must be comfortable with creating complex analysis datasets derived from various data sources, with a careful eye for outliers and errors. Prior experience building patient cohorts and evaluating patient healthcare events in large databases, using observational research methods such as epidemiology and statistical methods, is highly desirable.

• SAS and SQL expertise is required, while R programming is preferred.
• We welcome candidates with experience in any therapeutic area, although experience in rare diseases is a plus.
• Real-world healthcare claims database experience is mandatory, with equivalent EU database experience acceptable.
• OMOP-Common Data Model experience is highly valued, even with limited exposure (1 year +).
• Strong communication, time management, enthusiasm, and documentation skills are crucial in this position.

Technical Requirements

Proficiency in R and SQL programming is essential, along with expertise in Oncology databases such as Flatiron and COTA. A good understanding of Oncology-specific analyses, including Line of Therapy algorithms and Survival analysis, is also necessary. Experience with Analytic Datasets, patient cohorts, and R Shiny or Instant Health Data (IHD) is beneficial.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or other subjects with high statistical content
• Minimum 7-8 years SAS statistical programming experience
• Database programming using SQL
• Experience with advanced statistical methods, such as Survival and Regression
• Experience with real-world healthcare claims and EHR data, including MarketScan, Optum, and Medicare databases

Additional Requirements

• Master's degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or other subjects with high statistical content
• Training or experience using the OMOP Common Data Model
• Training or experience with Python, R, Databricks, or other cloud-based software
• Pharmaceutical industry experience
• Training or experience in epidemiological methods
