Senior Backend Engineer

We're building a cutting-edge personal finance app for Gen Z, transforming bank transactions into actionable insights and goals users can actually achieve.

  • Develop REST APIs from OpenAPI specs: auth, Plaid link/exchange, webhook, transactions list/patch, insights refresh/list.
  • Create SQS workers:
  • Ingestion – Plaid cursor sync, idempotent upserts to Postgres, raw payloads to S3.
  • Insights – Gemini calls with quotas, timeouts, circuit breakers; persist JSON results.
  • Design and evolve Postgres schemas/migrations; implement efficient queries, cursor pagination, and Rediscaching for hot reads.
  • Enforce input validation, structured logs, and distributed tracing.
  • Add tests, documentation, and runbooks.
  • Collaborate with the Platform/Infra engineer to maintain security, performance, and cost efficiency.

Mandatory qualifications:

  • 5+ years developing Node/TypeScript backends with Postgres and a queue.
  • Proven experience with secure webhooks and third-party APIs.
  • Strong grasp of idempotency, retries/backoff, cursor pagination, error design, and API performance.
  • Comfortable with Docker, GitHub Actions, and observability fundamentals.

Nice-to-have skills:

  • Plaid SDK expertise, LLM API usage, SMS flows.
  • Exposure to Java/Spring or Go.
