Job Title: OpenAI Engineer

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced AI Application Engineer to join our team. As an AI Application Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development and maintenance of our AI applications.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Configure and manage data privacy controls to prevent the training of AI models on sensitive data and enforce zero-retention policies.

  2. Deliver comprehensive audit logs, compliance reporting, and monitoring for OpenAI usage to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.

  3. Implement robust guardrails and moderation tools, including fine-tuned safety layers, to enhance the security and reliability of AI applications.

  4. Track and analyze model performance and usage metrics, producing regular reports for leadership to inform strategic decisions.

  5. Optimize prompt engineering and evaluate cost/performance trade-offs, such as comparing GPT-4 and GPT-4o mini, to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.

  6. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to API calls, latency, and integration failures, ensuring seamless operation of AI tools.

  7. Maintain a detailed internal admin guide with setup/configuration steps, governance rules, and best practices for AI tool management.

  8. Develop and maintain knowledge bases and wikis for developers and end users to facilitate knowledge sharing and skill development.

  9. Deliver training sessions for IT staff to expand their expertise in managing OpenAI tools and ensure comprehensive admin coverage.

  10. Serve as the Tier 3 escalation point for OpenAI-related incidents, providing expert-level support and resolution.

  11. Collaborate with security, compliance, and engineering teams to expand the safe and responsible use of AI tools across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.

  • 5-8 years of experience in AI applications engineering or a related role.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in AI tools, particularly Google Gemini, OpenAI, and Anthropic.

  • Strong understanding of data privacy controls and compliance requirements.

  • Experience in configuring and managing AI tool environments securely and effectively.

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to handle complex technical issues.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience delivering training and creating documentation.
