Job Title: Financial Manager

Merito is seeking a highly skilled Financial Manager to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing financial insights to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Accounting & Reporting:
    • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements (profit & loss, balance sheet, cash flow).
    • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
    • Monitor and ensure compliance with accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP) and internal financial policies.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and present them to senior management.
    • Ensure that all financial transactions are properly documented, recorded, and reported.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting:
    • Assist in preparing annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
    • Analyse budgetary performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
    • Monitor expenditures and ensure that spending is within budgetary limits.
    • Collaborate with department heads to prepare and review financial forecasts.
  • Taxation & Compliance:
    • Ensure timely filing of statutory returns (GST, Income Tax, etc.).
    • Coordinate with tax consultants to ensure compliance with all tax regulations.
    • Manage audits, both internal and external, and ensure all audit requirements are met.
    • Stay updated with changes in tax laws and regulations and ensure adherence.
  • Internal Controls & Process Improvement:
    • Establish and maintain a system of strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
    • Regularly review financial procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
    • Identify and implement improvements in accounting processes to enhance efficiency.
    • Ensure proper reconciliation of all accounts on a monthly and yearly basis.
  • Cash Flow & Treasury Management:
    • Monitor daily cash flow, ensuring liquidity to meet operational needs.
    • Manage banking relationships and oversee cash, investments, and borrowing activities.
    • Prepare cash flow forecasts and manage working capital requirements effectively.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Lead and mentor a team of finance and accounts professionals.
    • Assign responsibilities, set goals, and evaluate the performance of the team.
    • Provide training and professional development opportunities to team members.
    • Foster a collaborative environment to enhance teamwork and improve performance.
  • Vendor & Contract Management:
    • Oversee accounts payable processes, ensuring timely payments and reconciliations.
    • Negotiate terms with vendors and service providers to optimize cost efficiencies.
    • Review and approve purchase orders and contracts to ensure adherence to budget.
  • Financial Analysis & Insights:
    • Analyse financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
    • Provide financial insights to support management in decision-making processes.
    • Evaluate financial performance against key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial goals with business objectives.
    • Work closely with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities.
    • Ensure that financial information is communicated effectively to internal stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (Master's or MBA preferred).
    • Professional certifications such as CA (Chartered Accountant), CMA, or CPA can be considered as preferable but not mandatory.
  • Experience:
    • 7-10 years of experience in finance and accounting, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
    • Strong experience in financial reporting, taxation, budgeting, and compliance.
    • Proven track record of managing accounting teams and implementing process improvements.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS/GAAP) and financial management practices.
    • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., Tally, SAP, Oracle).
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
    • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
