Role Overview
An Oncosurgeon is a vital part of the medical team responsible for performing surgical procedures to diagnose and treat cancer. This role plays a critical part in providing comprehensive cancer care to patients, working closely with oncologists, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver multidisciplinary treatment plans.
Main Responsibilities
  • Performing surgical procedures to remove tumors and cancerous tissues, utilizing minimally invasive techniques when appropriate.
  • Evaluating patients to determine suitability for surgery and anticipated outcomes, collaborating with oncologists and other specialists to develop treatment plans.
  • Participating in tumor boards and multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure effective cancer care.
  • Providing postoperative care and monitoring patient recovery, training and supervising medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Contributing to quality improvement initiatives within the surgical department, remaining updated on new techniques and advancements in oncological surgery.

Essential Qualifications
  • Medical degree from an accredited institution, completion of a surgical residency program, and board certification in general surgery and surgical oncology.
  • Valid state medical license and DEA registration, proven experience in oncological surgical procedures, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development, and strong ethical and professional conduct.
