Key Responsibilities:

  1. Database Integrity: Ensure the security and integrity of the company database.
  2. System Performance: Monitor and optimize system performance using index tuning, disk optimization, and other methods.
  3. Database Design: Implement data models, database designs, data access, and table maintenance codes.
  4. Issue Resolution: Resolve database performance and capacity issues, and replication and other distributed data issues.
  5. Data Migration: Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems.
  6. Change Control: Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases.
  7. Backup and Recovery: Management and maintenance of backups and recovery procedures.
  8. Upgrades and Patches: Install and test upgrades and patches.
  9. Database Security: Implement and maintain database security.
  10. Database Scripts: Develop database scripts for automation purposes.
  11. Database Recovery: Troubleshoot and correct database issues and ensure database recovery.
  12. Disaster Recovery: Design and implement disaster recovery plans.
  13. Data Warehousing: Manage data warehousing plans and business intelligence initiatives.
  14. Cloud Database: Handle the deployment, maintenance, and support of current and future database systems in cloud environments.

Requirements:

  1. DBMS Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of specific DBMS such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
  2. Database Design: Proficiency in database design and modeling.
  3. SQL Expertise: Expertise in SQL and query optimization.
  4. Backup and Recovery: Experience with backup and recovery strategies.
  5. Performance Monitoring: Proficiency in performance monitoring and tuning.
  6. High Availability: Understanding of high availability solutions and replication.
  7. Database Security: Expertise in database security and user management.
  8. Database Migration: Experience in database migration and upgrades.
  9. Scripting Languages: Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
  10. Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  11. Disaster Recovery: Understanding of disaster recovery planning and implementation.
  12. Data Warehousing: Experience with data warehousing and business intelligence tools.
  13. Cloud Database: Familiarity with cloud-based database services such as Amazon RDS, Azure SQL Database, or Google Cloud SQL.

Education and Experience:

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
  2. Experience: At least 5 years of experience in database administration, information technology, database architecture, or a related field.
