Interior Trims Engineer Lead Role

This position is responsible for leading the interior trims and cockpit console commodities within our organization.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in project management, with experience in delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishing and planning engineering subsystem meetings to ensure cross-functional representation and input from relevant areas.
  • Ensuring design maturity progression from initial concept to engineering sign-off and design gateways.
  • Maintaining teamwork plans aligned to vehicle programs.
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance of systems, subsystems, and components.
  • Defining engineering targets to meet function, quality, and attribute requirements for vehicle programs.
  • Developing and maintaining design validation plans, including in-house and supplier testing plans.
  • Leading failure mode avoidance activities, including DFMEA, quality history reviews, and DFA/DFA reviews.
  • Resolving design, attribute, or packaging incompatibilities through cross-functional meetings.
  • Managing suppliers to ensure system/component delivery to vehicle program timing and attribute targets.
  • Supporting purchasing teams in sourcing and RFQ activities.
  • Supporting vehicles launch and pre-production builds.
  • Ensuring effective application of APQP to manage system/component delivery.

Qualifications:

BE/B. Tech, ME in Mechanical/Production/Automotive Engineering

Requirements:

  • Proven project management capability demonstrated by recent delivery in line with time, cost, quality & attribute targets.
  • Extensive experience in right-first-time development and integration of at least one of the following – Cockpit Console commodities and Interior Trims – IP & Console , Ducts , Vents, Topper Pads Glove box Diver panels, cup holder, Arm rest etc
  • Detailed Engineering knowledge of design, function, performance, production & manufacturing requirements.
  • Ability to manage and challenge system, sub-system and component costs through utilization of engineering knowledge and decision-making process.
  • Excellent communication skills, with demonstrable ability of communicating with cross-functional teams and influencing at all levels.
  • PC Literacy: Microsoft Project, Power Point, Excel, Word etc.
  • Significant experience in use of engineering tools - FMEA, Agile or Scrum (Six Sigma will be added advantage)
