Steel Detailer & Procurement Specialist

This role is a great opportunity to join our company and take on a challenging position that requires strong steel detailing and modeling skills, as well as the ability to manage procurement needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Interpret architectural and structural drawings to produce accurate shop drawings and bills of materials.
  2. Use detailing software (Tekla Structures, AutoCAD/Advance Steel, or similar) to model and detail steel components including stairs, railings, embeds, and structural steel.
  3. Generate and organize CNC files, bolt lists, BOM and fabrication-ready documentation.
  4. Collaborate with the project team to ensure drawings are clear, accurate, and coordinated with other trades.
  5. Review drawings and shop details to identify all materials, hardware, and consumables required for fabrication and installation.
  6. Create accurate takeoffs and prepare purchase lists for materials (steel shapes, plate, pipe/tube, fasteners, weld consumables, etc.).
  7. Coordinate with approved vendors to request pricing, compare quotes, and prepare purchase orders.
  8. Track material deliveries, lead times, and costs to ensure alignment with project schedules.
  9. Maintain procurement logs and communicate regularly with project managers, foremen, and shop leadership.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Software Proficiency: Tekla Structures or AutoCAD/Advance Steel (required).
  • Experience with Bluebeam Revu and Excel (required). Familiarity with Revit or Tekla EPM (FabSuite) a plus.
  • Strong understanding of structural and architectural steel fabrication.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex architectural and structural drawings.
  • Experience preparing takeoffs and bills of materials from shop drawings.
  • Good communication skills in English (written and verbal).
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
  • Prior experience working with U.S.-based construction or fabrication companies preferred.
