Job Title: Information Systems Security Manager

At Cognitus Consulting, we are seeking a seasoned Information Systems Security Manager to join our team. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing robust security strategies and policies to protect our assets, employees, and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessing potential risks and vulnerabilities, investigating security breaches, and reinforcing appropriate measures to mitigate them.
  • Developing and implementing business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Acquiring and managing necessary resources, including leadership support, financial resources, and key security personnel, to support information technology (IT) security goals and objectives.
  • Advising senior management on risk levels and security posture.
  • Collecting and maintaining data needed to meet system cybersecurity reporting requirements.
  • Communicating the value of IT security throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Ensuring that security improvement actions are evaluated, validated, and implemented as required.
  • Ensuring that cybersecurity inspections, tests, and reviews are coordinated for the network environment.
  • Ensuring that cybersecurity requirements are integrated into the continuity planning for that system and/or organization(s).
  • Evaluating and approving development efforts to ensure that baseline security safeguards are appropriately installed.
  • Identifying alternative information security strategies to address organizational security objectives.
  • Identifying IT security program implications of new technologies or technology upgrades.
  • Interpreting patterns of noncompliance to determine their impact on levels of risk and/or overall effectiveness of the enterprise's cybersecurity program.
  • Managing the monitoring of information security data sources to maintain organizational situational awareness.
  • Overseeing the information security training and awareness program across the organization.
  • Participating in an information security risk assessment during the Security Assessment and Authorization process.
  • Preparing, distributing, and maintaining plans, instructions, guidance, and standard operating procedures concerning the security of network system(s) operations.
  • Providing system-related input on cybersecurity requirements to be included in statements of work and other appropriate procurement documents.
  • Recognizing a possible security violation and taking appropriate action to report the incident, as required.
  • Recommending resource allocations required to securely operate and maintain an organization's cybersecurity requirements.
  • Supervising or managing protective or corrective measures when a cybersecurity incident or vulnerability is discovered.
  • Tracking audit findings and recommendations to ensure that appropriate mitigation actions are taken.
  • Promoting awareness of security issues among management and ensuring sound security principles are reflected in the organization's vision and goals.
  • Overseeing policy standards and implementation strategies to ensure procedures and guidelines comply with cybersecurity policies.
  • Ensuring that plans of actions and milestones or remediation plans are in place for vulnerabilities identified during risk assessments, audits, inspections, etc.
  • Assuring successful implementation and functionality of security requirements and appropriate IT policies and procedures that are consistent with the organization's mission and goals.
  • Supporting necessary compliance activities (e.g., ensuring that system security configuration guidelines are followed, compliance monitoring occurs).
  • Continuously validating the organization against policies/guidelines/procedures/regulations/laws to ensure compliance.
  • Having a good understanding of data backup and recovery.
  • Having a good understanding of business continuity and disaster recovery continuity of operations plans.
  • Having knowledge of the organization's enterprise IT goals and objectives.
  • Familiarity with SOX, ISO, NIST audits is a plus.
