Job Title: Research Scientist

This role is a key position within our organization, responsible for designing and executing synthetic routes to prepare small molecules for drug discovery programmes. The successful candidate will work closely with our research teams to track SAR and optimize potency, selectivity, and properties of small molecules for research programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Synthetic Chemistry: Design and execute synthetic routes to prepare small molecules for drug discovery programmes.
  • Track SAR: Track SAR and optimizing potency, selectivity, and properties of small molecules for research programs.
  • Purification and Structural Characterization: Perform purification and structural characterization of compounds.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot synthetic problems and optimize reaction conditions.
  • Mentorship and Guidance: Providing mentorship and guidance to junior colleagues.
  • Laboratory Management: Maintain accurate lab records and contribute to technical reports.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with analytical teams as needed.
  • Intellectual Property: Providing input on intellectual property activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree: M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a closely related field.
  • Doctoral Degree: PhD in organic chemistry / medicinal chemistry.
  • Postdoctoral Experience: Postdoc in organic chemistry / Medicinal chemistry (Optional).
  • Work Experience: 0-4 years of hands-on experience in working on bench, preferably in an industry.

Technical and Soft Skills:

  • Synthetic Chemistry Expertise: Skilled in multistep organic synthesis, reaction optimization, and compound isolation.
  • Analytical Techniques: Proficient in chromatography (TLC, column, flash), spectroscopic analysis (NMR, LC-MS, HPLC), and purification techniques (recrystallization, precipitation, others).
  • Problem Solving: High level of creativity and productivity with strong synthetic chemistry problem solving skills.
  • Scientific Knowledge: Demonstrated excellence in organic synthesis, conversant with the current literature.
  • Communication Skills: Effective oral and scientific/technical writing communication skills.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Lab Safety: Commitment to lab safety and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Reaction Databases: Familiarity with reaction databases (e.g., Reaxys, SciFinder).
  • Software Skills: Proficiency using MS Office applications is required.
