Mica, a vital resource with 34 types of minerals, is extensively used globally due to its unique optical properties and natural insulation. India is the world's largest exporter, with mica extracted in various regions including Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh.
The Responsible Mica Initiative (RMI) aims to establish a fair and sustainable supply chain, eliminating unacceptable working conditions and child labor. RMI has developed the Global Workplace Standard (GWS) for mica processors and is working on a standard for small to medium semi-mechanized mines.
RMI seeks a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Workplace Standards Auditor & Trainer to support growth in India and strengthen upstream supply chain actors towards sustainability.
Main Responsibilities:- Conduct gap assessments of mica processors and mines versus RMI's GWS and mining standard to identify areas for improvement.
- Provide technical assistance to processors and mine owners in implementing corrective action plans and ensuring compliance with RMI standards.
- Collaborate with accredited auditing companies to coordinate collective third-party audit protocols for RMI members.
- Develop training content for auditors on RMI standards and conduct online or face-to-face training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Analyze data from audit reports, present findings, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
District-level advocacy in Rajasthan involves building relationships with local governmental officers and keeping them informed about RMI's progress and planned activities.
