University Guidance Counsellor Job Description

The University Guidance Counsellor plays a pivotal role in supporting students' academic and career development by providing expert guidance on university admissions.

This role involves collaborating with faculty, parents, and community organizations to foster student success. As part of the team's strategy to develop future-ready graduates, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting psychometric and aptitude tests to help students identify their strengths, interests, and career aspirations.
  • Scheduling and conducting sessions/lectures by experts to enable career option exploration for grade 8-10 students.
  • Organizing career and university admissions fairs for grade 11-12 students to connect them with university representatives from top global universities.

Key Responsibilities:

Career Counselling and University Placements

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and engage with diverse students, parents, and community organizations. A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks is required, along with strong written communication skills and a thorough understanding of SOPs, essays, and personal statements for university admissions.

A good experience in admissions consulting or undergrad-level admissions for top universities is preferred. The successful candidate will be able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting psychometric and aptitude test outcomes to help students choose the right-fit career option and relevant subject stream(s).
  • Providing one-on-one counselling to help students and their parents select the right-fit course, college, country, and exam for their undergraduate education.
  • Creating and executing a comprehensive plan for a successful application, including guiding students to craft stellar essays/personal statements.
  • Coordinating with stakeholders to ensure timely submission of transcripts, letters of recommendation, and other relevant documents for university applications.
