Senior Engineering Director Job Description

The Senior Engineering Director plays a pivotal role in developing and implementing business strategies that align with the hotel's overall mission, vision, values, and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Development: Participate in the development of the hotel's comprehensive business strategy to support achievement of the hotel's goals and objectives.
  • Engineering Department Strategy: Develop and implement targeted strategies for the hotel engineering department to drive efficiency, productivity, and innovation.
  • Status Monitoring: Regularly monitor status and adjust strategies as necessary to ensure alignment with hotel objectives.
  • Budget Development: Collaborate with the Executive Committee to develop the annual budget for the engineering department.
  • Marketing and Sales Plans: Contribute to the development of the annual marketing, sales, and yield management plans and strategies.
  • Quality Improvement: Continuously improve the hotel engineering department operations and maintain adherence to hotel brand standards.
  • Revenue Maximization: Direct the Engineering department to maximize profitability and revenue.
  • Vendor Management: Manage the Engineering department and third-party vendors to ensure superior service quality.
  • Quality Control Programs: Develop and implement quality control programs to drive excellence.
  • Contract Review and Negotiation: Review contracts and negotiate revisions with vendors, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Plan Interpretation: Interpret plans and contract terms with the Engineering team, management, clients, and vendors.
  • Safety Compliance: Monitor compliance with building safety codes, health, and safety laws, and conduct walk-throughs to assess equipment safety and maintenance of structure.
  • Responsible Business Practices: Maintain Responsible Business programs and training for the hotel.
  • Hotel Renovations: Manage hotel renovations, coordinate project status with the Regional Technical Services Office, architects, licensing agencies, contractors, and hotel management.

Qualifications and Skills:

A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required. Additionally, proficiency in strategy development, engineering operations management, vendor management, quality control, and safety regulations is essential for this position.
