Senior Director of Product Design

About the Role:

As Senior Director of Product Design, you will lead a team of talented product designers in shaping the future of our organization by designing and releasing intuitive solutions that empower both internal teams and external users.

In this role, you'll set a vision for user experience across our products, working closely with cross-functional leaders in product management, engineering, and data science to align on product strategy, goals, and roadmaps.

Responsibilities:

  • Design Strategy
    • Define and drive the holistic design vision for our products, ensuring a consistent user experience.
    • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in AI, UX, and product design.
  • Team Leadership
    • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of product designers, fostering creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Customer-Facing Influence
    • Engage in early client discussions to shape design strategy, translating needs into actionable insights.
    • Ensure end-to-end design ownership, supporting project continuity and client satisfaction.
  • Design Ops
    • Establish and streamline design operations to improve consistency, efficiency, and quality across teams.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to align on product strategy, goals, and roadmaps.
  • User Advocacy
    • Advocate for the user through research, testing, and feedback, ensuring informed design decisions.
  • Design Systems
    • Maintain and establish a centralized design system with standards, patterns, and best practices.
  • Evangelism
    • Presents design strategies and concepts to senior leadership and stakeholders, articulating the rationale behind design decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, HCI, or a related field, or equivalent.

Required Skills:

  • 12+ years of experience in product design within a technology or product-centric organization.
  • Proven experience leading a team of designers who design and ship AI-powered products or features.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional design skills, strategic thinking, and deep understanding of user-centered design principles.
  • Expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, with a track record of using data to inform design decisions.
  • Excellent relationship management skills working in a technical environment with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex design concepts and strategies.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment, with previous experience working on AI-powered products or curiosity about the rapidly evolving landscape.
