CottonGuru® is a leader in sustainable cotton farm projects and carbon removal initiatives. We are seeking an experienced Biochar Operations Lead to spearhead our efforts in sequestering thousands of tons of carbon dioxide from cotton fields in India.

Job Overview

The Biochar Operations Lead will be responsible for overseeing the production, transportation, and application of biochar, ensuring optimal efficiency and minimal environmental impact. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as expertise in agriculture, engineering, and carbon project management.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management: Strategize biomass sourcing from smallholder cotton farmers, build relationships with stakeholders, identify and manage production clusters, and oversee data collection.
  • Monitoring, Reporting & Verification (MRV): Implement digital MRV solutions, educate stakeholders on dMRV adoption, and ensure project activities align with global standards.
  • Carbon Certification and Compliance: Prepare for certification audits, manage project data using tools like Excel and Airtable, and stay updated with changes in global carbon certification standards.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks, communicate mitigation strategies, and ensure stakeholder alignment.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Engineering, or a relevant field, and at least 3 years of experience in biochar production and carbon projects. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, is necessary, and knowledge of digital MRV implementation and carbon certification standards is a plus.

Location

This role is based in Adilabad, Telangana, or a nearby area, with frequent travel to farm sites across Telangana and Maharashtra.

Compensation

We offer a competitive salary, flexible depending on experience and fit, ranging from ₹800,000 to ₹1,200,000 per annum, plus benefits and opportunities for professional growth.
