Mainframe Tester

We are seeking a seasoned Mainframe Tester to join our team of IT professionals. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of mainframe testing life cycles, including test planning, execution, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create comprehensive test strategies and plans to define the scope and approach of testing.
  • Analyze requirements and design test scenarios and cases.
  • Prepare test data and JCL according to test scenarios.
  • Execute test cases by submitting jobs and analyze results.
  • Report issues and coordinate with development/support teams for fixing errors.
  • Participate in capability building and upskilling programs, contribute towards training programs in practice.
  • Support colleagues in respective domains with relevant expertise.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of experience in testing life cycle processes.
  • Good knowledge in editing JCL or creating JCL to submit test batch jobs.
  • Awareness of TSO/ISPF commands in Mainframe.
  • Good knowledge in analyzing logs in Spool for Abended jobs and providing root cause analysis.
  • Ability to work with developers to analyze COBOL programs and identify input/output files.
  • Experience in STLC Lifecycle (Software Testing Life Cycle) or Agile methodology.

Bonus Points:

  • Proficiency in any mainframe programming language (COBOL, PL/1, etc.).
  • Familiarity with automated testing tools (e.g., TestData, Selenium).
