About this role

We're seeking a skilled CAD Designer with expertise in SolidWorks to develop thermoformed interior components for the railway industry.

This position requires strong technical skills, excellent customer communication, and the ability to deliver optimized solutions while minimizing changes to tooling.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in CAD design for thermoformed plastic components and a deep understanding of plastics material properties, tooling, and production processes.

  • Develop interior thermoformed panels for trains using SolidWorks.
  • Translate customer concepts into production-ready 3D and 2D designs.
  • Adapt panel designs to changing project requirements while ensuring minimal tool modifications.
  • Engineer the rear side construction of panels, including reinforcements, ventilation solutions, and mounting details.
  • Collaborate with clients to align technical feasibility, cost efficiency, and manufacturability.
  • Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, safety requirements, and client specifications.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in CAD design for thermoformed plastic components.
  • SolidWorks expert level surface modeling, assemblies, and tool-related adjustments.
  • Strong background in railway, automotive, or transportation interiors.
  • Knowledge of plastics material properties, tooling, and production processes.
  • Ability to translate conceptual sketches into manufacturable designs.
  • Excellent communication skills for client interaction and engineering discussions.
  • Independent, structured, and detail-oriented working style.
