Job Details

PETA India is seeking an exceptional individual to fill the role of Animal Emergency Response Associate

This position entails assisting our emergency response team in handling urgent animal emergencies, rescues, and cruelty cases involving animals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergency and general cruelty-case calls and communications.
  • Provide timely assistance for animals in need with the support of senior staff members and office assistants.
  • Coordinate effectively with relevant organisations, volunteers, activists, government bodies, and officials to facilitate emergency rescues.
  • File police complaints, visit relevant agencies, and perform similar tasks as necessary.
  • Inform the public about ways they can help animals through appropriate responses to cases.
  • Maintain and update a database of contacts and services available to PETA India's emergency and cruelty-case response team.
  • Ensure thorough records are kept for calls and communications received about emergencies and cruelty cases.
  • Participate in professional development training on animal handling, restraining, first aid, and other lessons relevant to emergency and cruelty-case response.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree from a recognised institution.
  • Voluntary or other experience handling emergency and cruelty-case responses for animals is highly valued.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Fluency in Hindi and English.
  • Knowledge of other local Indian languages is beneficial.
  • Exceptional organisational and time-management skills, including multi-tasking.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deal patiently with various stakeholders.
  • Passion for ending cruelty to animals and helping animals in need.
  • Compassionate, responsible, and self-driven character.
  • Outgoing and personable manner with excellent communication skills.
  • Adherence to a vegan lifestyle.
  • Ability and willingness to travel independently as needed to handle emergency and cruelty cases.
  • Supportive position vis-à-vis PETA India's philosophy and the ability to advocate for PETA India's positions on issues in a professional manner.
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organisation.
