Senior Risk Manager Job Description

The primary purpose of this role is to oversee the development and implementation of risk management strategies, focusing on wholesale credit models. This involves working closely with senior leaders to execute risk governance practices and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Establish a Centre of Excellence for Wholesale Rating Models from scratch, driving innovation and best practices in model development and validation.
  • Provide thought leadership and contribute to the development of risk management strategies, staying up-to-date with latest industry updates and regulatory changes.
  • Independently research and develop innovative solutions to improve risk assessment and mitigation.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Prepare presentations and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, committees, and other teams across the organization.
  • Engage with multiple stakeholders, including Limit Management, Collateral Management, RAROC, Customer Rating, to ensure effective risk management.
  • Review financial spreading logic in newly developed systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Support governance and audit readiness through proper model documentation and transparent development practices.

Risk Analysis & Model Development:

  • Design and implement end-to-end processes for risk analysis, model development, validation, and lifecycle management of Wholesale Rating Models.
  • Develop and validate range of models, including Corporate/Wholesale Rating Models, Master Rating Scale (MRS) calibration.
  • Explore new approaches for rating model development, especially for low default portfolios.

People Management:

  • Build, mentor, and lead a team of modelers and consultants, driving capability building and continuous learning within the team.
  • Drive training, peer reviews, and knowledge sharing to enhance team performance and risk management expertise.

Climate Risk Analytics:

  • Develop statistical climate risk models, integrating economic and social data to understand climate risks' impact.
  • Develop different climate scenarios based on various emission pathways and climate change projections, assessing potential impact on financial risks.
  • Based on statistical models, develop adaptation strategies to mitigate relevant risks and establish system for continuous monitoring of climate data.
  • Incorporate existing and potential future policies and regulations related to climate change into model development.
  • Involve stakeholders in meeting process to ensure comprehensive understanding of local conditions, priorities, and concerns.

Requirements:

  • Strong foundation in Statistics and Mathematics.
  • Experience in developing and validating Wholesale Rating Models (PD, LGD, EAD).
  • Proficient in programming languages such as R and Python, data analysis and visualization using Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Hold degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Quantitative Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field.
  • Passionate about risk management and advancing science of credit risk modeling.
  • Excellent communication skills, fluency in English, ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly.
